I put some of them in cellophane, and did not take them out for the picture, so that is why some look so shiny from the flash of the camera. I have been in a blog posting slump lately and it has been a long while since my last post.
Well, Valentine's Day is one month from today. I thought I better announce "The Sweet Vintage Candy Box Swap" for Valentine's Day. It will be also posted on the Flickr group site of the Honey Pot's Vintage swap. Here are the rules . . . . . . . . In the interest of time this swap will be open until Sunday January 20th. At that time I will assign partners.
Anyone who joins this swap must realize that you have to have your swap to your partner no later that Thursday February 8th, 2013, so they can enjoy it for Valentine's Day! That is in about 3 and a half weeks from right now, so that means you will have to post accordingly.

1. Take a candy box like the one below (or similar)

It DOES NOT have to be a Whitman's Sampler box, just a candy box of some sort, or a box similar in size. Or it can even be a heart shaped candy box. Decorate it up for Valentines. Think vintage and make it something you would love to receive in the mail. Fill it up with scrapbook supplies, embellishments, vintage goodies, and probably chocolate (lol) and keep it light weight so it won't be such an expense to ship.

2. Make or handcraft at least one item to put in the box. Here is the one I have decorated. I have already been planning on what I will put in it.

3. Absolutely do not join in on this swap if you cannot deliver on time! PLEASE DON'T DO THAT TO YOUR PARTNER. It is very rude and not good swapping practice. Some people burn their bridges and become known as a bad partner. I am sorry to be so harsh, but I have had some bad experiences with some people who have joined in on my swaps. If you have a problem after you have joined and won't be able to follow through please be courteous and let me know. I don't want anyone to not get their package. Please be prompt, do your best work and give something you would be tickled beyond measure to get!

4. Please email me at askm_mac@yahoo.com with all of your info. Name and physical address, blog address and your likes and dislikes. You have one week to decide. but again Please don't join this swap unless you are sure that you can follow through!
Our county is a very large county, and since we live in Southern Nevada, Las Vegas is part of this county, but the fair is in our little town. Since it is warmer than other places usually this time of year, this is when the Rodeo Circuit starts. I paid my dues, and got a number, so decided to get going. I have been making sets of notecards/envelopes to sell there among other items. Here are photos of the cardswith a French Flair to them! They will sell for $7.00/set of four, and are approx. 5x7 cards. I would love some feedback on these please. To much, to little. Anyway let's see what you think?
ANNOUNCING a giveaway in celebration of my birthday month and Valentine's Day. I made this necklace a while back and it has been in my Etsy shop. I really love it myself, but since it has not sold I will give it away. It is wonderfully colorful and shabby! Also the Vintage look Valentine card and the Vintage Doily are included. Maybe a little bit of chocolate might be included too.
The Oxford English Dictionary, which defines a scrap-book as a “blank book in which pictures, newspaper cuttings, and the like are pasted for preservation," suggests that 1854 is the earliest known date of the word "scrap-book" being used in print although other methods of collecting mementos were popular since the 18th century.
Scrapbooks were indispensable as a method of illustration in teaching children both at home and in the Sunday-school. Women’s magazines from the 1800s often describe the making of a scrap-book as an essential “rainy-day occupation” for children and include a list of scrapbooking supplies to be kept on hand for such a day.
I have this sterling silver ornate easel in my living room, that I like to make different paper decorations to hang or sit on, depending on the holiday or season. Here is my "spring art project" Better late than never, right?

I mounted it on a little board that has holes drilled through for the ribbon.

This tiny paper swan with the feathers attached was sent to me by Marsha over at sassy mini dolls in our latest matchbox swap.
Yes, I am calling it the Scrap Stash Swap. I wanted to call it the Scrap Crap Swap, but I changed my mind.
To all you scrapbookers and cardmakers out there. You know you have oodles of scrapbooking supplies that you will never use. How about trading it in for some new stuff? Well I know when I look through my stashes, (from years of scrapbooking) that I know I will never use some things. Heck I have a whole studio full of scrap stash. Here are the rules if you would like to play along.

1. Comment on this post and tell me that you would like to be involved. Then please email me at ask@comnett.net and put scrap stash in the subject line, with your information. blog address, physical address and email.

2. Here is what we are swapping. Please include all the scrap supplies you want, only here are the absolutes.
Must have at least 5 brand new items, that have never been opened and this could include embellishments, stickers, chipboard etc. Must have at least 10 sheets patterned paper, that is 12 x 12 please. and at least 1 sheet of rub-ons. Then put in as much other goodies as you wish. (I know you have lots of paper you probably will never use) Don't send garbage, but you may send parts of a sheet of stickers or other embellishments or even neatly cut pieces of patterned paper etc. Send stuff that you wouldn't mind buying or something you thought you might use someday. It will be fun to see what you get in return.

3. The shipping date will be May 27, so we can have our new stashes for the summer of scrapbooking and cardmaking.

The entry deadline will be May 15, 2011. so spread the word!

Yep, made another "nest" swag and this time I am not giving it away. I posted a couple of different swags that I did a while back, and once again, must give credit where credit is due. This idea came from swags that I saw on Karla's Cottage blog. I don't want to sound selfish in any way, but I make lots of stuff, and always need gifts for loved ones and friends, or even swaps and don't end up with one myself. I love giving handmade crafts away, but wish I could have one for my studio, or home too sometimes So this one is mine! I am still planning on making more of these for other gifts I will need soon, but again, this one is on my wall and it will stay there.

I was walking around the fair grounds the other day and the wind had been so bad that this perfect swag stick was laying under a big tree. It was hard getting it back home in one piece, cause my little granddaughter loves sticks. I had to hide it under my coat!
